Recently a weight loss management team recruited eighty four adults with obesity for a 12 week experiment. Everyone was given general weight loss advice, now given to one of 2 groups. One group was told to drink sixteen ounces of bottled water half an hour before the meals of theirs, while another group was told to just imagine their stomachs were full before meals.

The researchers monitored everyone’s weight at the start, end and middle of the experiment, along with their urine to ensure the water boosted group was in fact drinking much more water. They kept track of physical exercise, also, which did not change.

The group that loaded up on water lost aproximatelly 3 more pounds of belly fat than the group which did not up the water intake. And also the more they drank, the much better the results; individuals who drank sixteen ounces before every meal lost approximately nine pounds over the course of the experiment. 12 pounds is about what you get from going to Weight Watchers for twelve weeks. Water may be very successful because, obviously, it fills you up and helps increase satiety. Having a few glasses of water thirty minutes before a meal gives you time to feel fuller, which often can help shape decisions about everything you eat, she adds.

We all get fatter over time, so it could do the job as a prevention strategy at a population level. So according to the most recent research, drinking water helps you lose weight.
