There’s been a lot of talk in popular weight-loss online publications regarding the perceived side effects of Garcinia Cambogia. Of course, the biggest side effect is that a lot of people are spending a lot of money on this compound and using it the wrong way. That is the biggest side effect, at least according to my eyes. The problem here is that the traditional opponents of alternative supplemental options for weight loss have really gone overboard in demonizing Garcinia Cambogia. I’m not going to go into the details regarding the well-rehashed exaggerations and outright lies made against this amazing fruit. You can easily find that elsewhere. What I am going to discuss at some length are the reasons why this is the case.
The multi-billion dollar weight-loss industry
Believe it or not, the global weight-loss industry is worth billions of dollars every single year. Every single year, billions of dollars change hands with the premise that somebody has a solution to your weight-loss problems. Why is this industry so big? Well, it’s built on tears. That’s right. It’s built on the bitter tears of people who go on weight-loss system after weight-loss system and fail. Now, what makes this somewhat deceptive is the fact that the failure is actually not apparent. Unless, if you’re just really unfortunate and have zero willpower, and you failed your diet outright the first you tried it, chances are your diet experience would fit a certain pattern. It’s all too familiar. In fact, this may have happened to you.
When you first got on the diet, you heard about this hot new book your buddy is talking about on Facebook. You see it on your newsfeed and they’re talking about this book it’s like really awesome, you click on the link, you buy it from Amazon, you whip out your credit card to make the payment, and you download it from Amazon. You read the book and you implement it step by step. Sure enough, the pounds start going away. In fact, depending on the diet that you get on, the pounds disappear almost like magic. I know when I first tried the Atkins Diet, the pounds seemed like it was melting off. I mean, I did minimal exercise, but I still looked great because all that fat was just burning off. That’s how effective the Atkins Diet was, at least when you first try it, which brings me to the second part of the typical weight-loss journey.
The second part is when you hit the plateau. This is the point where you no longer stop losing weight. For some reason or other, regardless of how hard you’re trying, the pounds no longer come off. It’s very frustrating. It’s very emotionally draining, and you don’t know why. The quick workaround is that you hit the gym, and you exercise like a madman to pump up your body’s calorie burn-rate. Eventually, the process will get the better of you, and you simply will tire out. Eventually, you
mentally burn out. It just takes more and more willpower to stick to your diet. It takes more and more willpower to show up at the gym. Eventually, you show up less and less, and you eat more and more. What do you think will happen?
According to research studies of people who tried diet after diet, they end up weighing more a year after their diet ended than when they began. I don’t mean to depress you. I just want you to get a realistic view of how the weight-loss industry works. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry built on tears. I need you to get that right. I need you to understand that. It’s not built on your success. I mean, they hope you will be successful, at least that’s what they say, but in practicality it’s based on your failure. The more you fail, the more money they make. Now do you understand why this multi-billion dollar system would be up-in-arms against a weight-loss option that actually works?
What if you found a weight-loss supplement that enabled you to finally get off that diet merry-go-round or carousel? What if you finally got off the diet pattern and kept the weight off permanently? That’s right. They would lose billions of dollars. Since they don’t want that to happen, they would attack the first product that actually delivers. Now you see why they hate Garcinia Cambogia so much. They keep pointing to that late 90’s JAMA study which was technically flawed. Whenever you mix Garcinia Cambogia HCA with calcium, it retards the effect of that compound. Later studies actually showed positive results with Garcinia Cambogia. Now, we’re left with a battle of the studies. Unfortunately, since the JAMA study is so prestigious, the multi-billion dollar weight-loss industry keeps trotting that out whenever the conversation turns to HCA or Garcinia Cambogia.
The multi-billion ppharma industry
The other book end to the multi-billion dollar weight-loss industry, as far as Garcinia Cambogia side effects go, so the multi-billion pharmaceutical industry. Make no mistake about it, pharmaceutical companies make money when you’re sick. They don’t make money when you’re well. When you’re obese and have an increased susceptibility to Type II Diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and certain forms of cancer, who do you think benefits? That’s right, the multi-billion pharmaceutical industry.
The typical treatment for anticancer IV drugs runs in the thousands of dollars. It has bankrupted millions of Americans and other people from all four corners of the globe. That’s how much money there is in the pharmaceutical industry. Do you think they’ll be thrilled about a product that enables you to cut down on your weight so you can decrease your chances of developing certain types of cancer? Do you think they would be beside themselves in joy when they hear about a compound that enables you to avoid eating in a way that puts you in danger of cardiovascular diseases? Of course not. They have all the conflict of interest in the world to play up the dangers of Garcinia Cambogia and they don’t have any incentive to tell you the unvarnished truth.
Compounds that unlock the Holy Grail formula of weight loss threaten the job industries
At the risk of sounding repetitive, I cannot hammer this point home often enough. You have to understand that people are economic creatures. We’re all creatures of economics. We work based on incentives. It’s very hard to incentivize with pain, but it’s easy to incentivize with pleasure and nothing’s more pleasurable than billions of dollars every single year. Unfortunately, the multi-billion weight-loss industry has an unholy alliance with the multitrillion pharmaceutical industry to play up the threats of compounds that employ a Holy Grail approach to weight loss. They will take out print ads. They will buy online ad space. They will do whatever it takes for however long it takes to fool
people into thinking that if they take certain compounds they will get sick. Why? There are so many jobs at stake. Whole industries might implode if people found out the truth.
The danger of biased testing
There are all sorts of scientific studies that can be published. All these scientific studies often suffer from a conflict of interest. If the lab is being paid by somebody or an industry with a vested interest, how reliable do you think the results would be? It’s like the tobacco industry, hiring scientists to determine whether smoking causes cancer or not. I hope you know the answer. For the longest time from the 1950s all the way to the 1980s, scientists have repeatedly concluded in “scientific” study after study that smoking doesn’t harm your health. Now we know better. I leave you on that note.
